The 2020 Reserve Merlot is a rich and age-worthy red, showcasing deep aromas of black plum, licorice, and vanilla bean, with layers of black raspberry, cigar box, and fine tannins on the palate. Sourced from the exceptional Serluca Family Vineyard and aged an extra 8 months in barrel, this structured Merlot is just beginning to bloom and will continue to evolve beautifully for years to come.
Beautiful aromas of black plum, licorice, potpourri, vanilla bean, black raspberry and clove. Black raspberry, black cherry and vanilla on the palate with cigar box and leathery notes. Juicy acidity and puckery fine tannins. Just starting to bloom now, but will continue to evolve over the next 5-7 years and hold for another 10 after that.
2020 was a remarkable vintage for winemaking in Ontario everywhere, but particularly for Bordeaux red grapes from the Serluca Family Vineyard just south of Virgil. This seriously age-worthy single-vineyard Merlot stunned us from the start with its depth of ripe flavour and structure. We left these big wines in barrel for an extra 8 months in profound respect of their potential.
